Diverse, colourful and fiercely independent – Liverpool has built itself into one of the most vibrant and successful cities in 21st century Britain. Unfortunately, its national reputation is still some way behind the fact.

When Liverpool Vision approached Uniform for a refresh of the city brand, we pitched a way to give the brand traction with the group on whose shoulders the city’s reputation rests – the people, businesses and institutions of Liverpool.

The brand itself had a sound positioning, but what emerged from our workshops with stakeholders was, they just weren’t sure how to use it, or where they fit in.

Liverpool Vision


Working with representatives from the football clubs, the universities, Merseytravel and other key businesses in the city, we came to understand the city had everything, but wasn’t showing that off. 

Underpinning this was a strategy for the brand that everyone could understand; a set of assets everyone in the city could buy into, and use to promote their business, events, ideas; and crucially, a brand that could change and grow with the city.
