The World Expo 2010 in Shanghai was the largest Expo ever held, attracting some 70 million visitors. Its aim was to build new trade relationships between China and the rest of the world. Almost 250 countries and international organisations showcased talent, including, Liverpool the only UK city with a dedicated pavilion. Working with the City Council, Liverpool Vision and the regional development agency, Uniform was commissioned to design and build the space.
The vision for the pavilion was to encapsulate what Liverpool has to offer. It was important to draw on the unique heritage, culture and people of the city, while portraying the great opportunities for new investment and growth. Uniform designed the space to showcase Liverpool in the most fun and engaging way to visitors. The pavilion attracted as many as 4,000 visitors a day, and more than 770,000 visitors over the six-month time frame, 18% above the original target.
