The FA Cup ball was designed to launch a three year partnership between the world’s most established sports brand and the FA. For us at Uniform it’s brilliant to see the ball on the field of play after over of a year of hard work.

This weekend is all about the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup competition where our latest collaboration for Mitre will be making an appearance. Sadly, dad won’t get to see it after the Robins were beaten in a glamour tie with Woking in the second round.  

The FA Cup ball was designed to launch a three year partnership between the world’s most established sports brand and the FA. For us at Uniform it’s brilliant to see the ball on the field of play after over of a year of hard work.

The pro ball that will be used throughout the legendary competition, is the most technically advanced ball on the market. Richard Pay, the lead designer for Mitre at Uniform developed the new design using the ribbons from the iconic cup as well as the Delta mark that has been synonymous with Mitre since the 80s. He said: “We wanted to capture the spirit of the competition through celebration and passion. The ribbons from the sought after FA Cup Trophy surround the unique triangular panelling. A lions face hides within the ribbons to show the pride and determination in the game. The tribal aesthetic speaks to the tribal nature of the sport, resulting in a football like no other from a brand dedicated to football innovation.”

The ball and the partnership with the FA represents Mitre’s commitment to the professional game, which has gained momentum since the relaunch of the Mitre Delta in 2016.

We’ve worked with Mitre on a diverse range of projects over the last 12 months. Christmas saw the launch of the brand’s Marvel range, which is pure fun and shows how the brand is engaging with a younger market. Our work with Mitre and Disney started with the launch of the popular Star Wars range and we’ve now taken everyone’s favourite Marvel heroes and transformed them into football forms, so anyone can be a hero on the pitch. To translate the iconic Marvel characters into football designs we captured their most distinct features to create balls that encapsulated their spirit.
